Rosebay

arosebay2

The day after I take this photograph I find my jacket covered with what appear to be flecks of cotton wool, which I cannot understand until I remember coming up close to this flocculent plant.  Until I took this photograph I never noticed those long protuberances, thick pink stems, stretching out round the fading flowerheads; nor that the fluff was full of seeds.

    • Thanks, John. This is a plant I have always liked, even when I was a child, but I never looked at it so closely before. I saw this row of rosebay along the edge of a field and took a detour to wander into their midst. They are very interesting, I think, as well as being beautiful.
